susan's Bio:

Why I Joined RISE:

Susan moved to Watauga County in March 1983. Susan spent 16 years working for First Union and Wachovia Bank, and she has been employed by Blue Ridge Energy since 2003. She is married to Frank Jones, and together they have two grown children, one grandson, and a granddaughter that is due October 2017.  Susan and Frank have two rescue dogs and one grouchy cat.

I first heard of Circles (now RISE) and found that it was a highly successful program to help those interested in escaping poverty. I visited the Wilkesboro location and came home ready to get the movement started in Watauga County. From the start is has been a passion to involve the right people as champions and allies and help secure resources to change lives. We have had a lot of success, support, and love of this program.

Goals

Prepare for retirement

Help my daughters and their families to continue to be healthy and happy.

Serve Blue Ridge Energy and the members by working hard and giving my best to the job.

Future Plans:

I will be working during the remainder of 2017 and during 2018 to help ensure that RISE continues its success story. I will be leaving the area in 2019 to live near the South Carolina Coast. New RISE location?

Serve the community by seeking out those in need and helping them to find solutions to improve their lives.

Continue to grow personally through my association and work with the wonderful participants of RISE.
